Roy Cruz

Roy was born and raised in the Kiamichi Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma, where he spent most of his childhood barefoot and outdoors. The influence of Steve Irwin drove him to pursue a career in wildlife biology and, after receiving his B.S. in Zoology, he quickly took to the wildlife field as a field biologist.

He has worked with multiple wildlife species ranging from golden eagles, beavers, bats, prairie dogs, pinyon jays, and everything in between. His fieldwork has led him to work and live all across the United States in Oklahoma, North Carolina, Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming.

As an avid hiker, birder, and landscape photographer in his free time, the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and its landscapes have always been a huge draw for him and he couldn’t help himself when given the opportunity to live and work amidst the beauty of the area.

His goal while guiding with Jackson Hole EcoTour Adventures is to help foster the same curiosity and passionate drive for wildlife and the outdoors with his guests that Steve Irwin instilled in him at a young age.

Roy is a certified Wilderness First Responder.
