Eric Carr

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Eric acquired a love, appreciation, and curiosity for the outdoors from his childlike instinct to climb trees, swing from their limbs, and swim in the chilly waters of the Puget Sound. In an attempt to bridge the gap between work and play, he enrolled at Washington State University where he earned a B.S. in Environmental Science with an emphasis in terrestrial ecology to further his understanding of the natural world that he cared so much about.

After only a brief visit to Jackson during his studies, he knew it was a place he wanted to explore further. Since the cold and snowy winter of 2007, he has had the pleasure of calling this wonderful valley home. In that time he has worked at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for over ten years as a personal alpine ski instructor for both visitors and locals alike. In past summers he has safely led over 500 raft trips down the mighty Snake River both on calm, scenic sections and thunderous, exhilarating whitewater portions—all the while traveling to all corners of the globe exploring new animals, cultures, and ideas.

In his free time, he can be spotted running long distances on our wonderful trails, floating down the Snake River and its tributaries, and exploring the vast and numerous mountain ranges surrounding him.

Eric has a huge heart, a passion for teaching, and an undeniable love for the natural world that surrounds us. As your guide, expect to come away with a better understanding and connection to this little corner of Wyoming through one-of-a-kind wildlife encounters, cultural education, and stories of past times.

Eric is a PSIA certified Cross Country Ski instructor and a certified Wilderness First Responder.
