Ben Tow

Born and raised in Iowa, Ben often had to seek out natural places. Over time, he realized that wherever you are, there is always something special to be seen. Ben went to school with the hopes of growing horticultural food crops for expanding urban areas, however, after receiving B.S. degrees in Biology and Horticulture, he did some traveling and fell in love with the mountains. His vision was sidetracked by the beauty of what he saw, so he moved to the GYE and started working for a lodge. Engaging with the public was very rewarding so he transitioned to the National Park Service the following summer. With the hopes of taking on a new adventure, Ben then found himself working as a forestry technician for the U.S. Forest Service, where he was fully immersed in pristine backcountry environments.

Working for the Forest Service was very exciting For Ben, but it lacked one of his favorite things: meeting new people. The joy from communicating with park visitors along with a passion for the GYE brought Ben to guiding, with the hopes that everyone who sees this place leaves as inspired as he was the first time he saw the Tetons. He believes that all life has something valuable to teach us, from the smallest lichens you’d never see, to the tallest trees that would never go unnoticed. He couldn’t think of a better place in the world to grow this passion and revels in sharing the GYE with everyone he meets.

When he isn’t guiding in the parks, Ben is always outside trying new things and enjoying all that the GYE has to offer. He loves to go backpacking, hike, run, and he appreciates every moment he gets to sit back and enjoy the view.
