Verlin was raised in the beautiful state of Colorado where family vacations and fishing trips instilled within him a love for the outdoors at an early age. He attended college at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he obtained a B.S. in Environmental Studies and a minor in Fisheries and Wildlife Management.
During his college years Verlin worked as a hydrologic technician with the United States Geological Survey on various water quality projects throughout Colorado and Nebraska.
Upon graduation he obtained a job with the USGS Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team, which brought him to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. While working on the study team Verlin was blessed with the opportunity to explore most of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, including the most remote areas of each park.
Verlin fell in love with the area and specifically the town of Jackson. He started guiding as a way to share his love of the area with others and make Jackson his home. While he is not working, he is obsessively exploring the region in a quest to learn everything he can about the area that he believes is “the greatest place on Earth”.
